Gandhi Nagar
Gandhinagar, capital of Gujarat is one of the most important cities of western
India. Named after the great Indian freedom fighter Mahatma Gandhi.
In 1960, Gujarat was established after the partition of Gujarat and Maharashtra
it was decided to provide Gujarat with its own capital then Gandhinagar
was developed as the state.
Gandhinagar rises on the west bank of the Sabarmati river, and is about
32kms, north-east of Ahmedabad, which is the commercial and cultural heart
of Gujarat.
Gandhinagar presents the spacious, well-organised look of an architecturally
integrated city. Gandhinagar is well connected through air, roads and railways
and provides a comfortable business center, apart from the hustle and bustle
of Ahmedabad, for the Gujarati businessmen.
City of Gandhinagar is ranked as one of the most greenest cities of India
and also that of the Asian continent.
The city was planned after the well laid out city of Chandigarh and is also
divided into various sectors just like the original city because of all
this planning and its greenery Gandhinagar is a favorite host of many multinational
bigwigs offices.
